Vegetable Glycerin, also known simply as Glycerin, is one of the most widely used humectants in skincare, haircare and personal-care formulations. Its hygroscopic nature allows it to attract water, helping maintain moisture and improve the hydrating performance of cosmetic products.
In skincare formulations, glycerin helps reduce the feeling of dryness while supporting a softer, smoother and more supple skin feel. It works particularly well in facial serums, moisturizers, body lotions, gels and cleansers.
In haircare, glycerin can contribute moisture and conditioning to shampoos, conditioners, hair masks and leave-in products. The concentration should be balanced carefully because excessive glycerin can increase tackiness or alter the sensory characteristics of a formulation.
Vegetable Glycerin is miscible with water and is normally incorporated into the water phase. It is also useful as a wetting or pre-dispersion medium for certain gums, powders and water-compatible cosmetic ingredients.

BTMS-50 is ideal for rinse-off conditioners, intensive hair masks, conditioner bars, leave-in conditioners and conditioning hair creams. It pairs particularly well with Panthenol, Argan Oil, Jojoba Oil, Avocado Oil, Murumuru Butter, Cupuaçu Butter and suitable fatty alcohols such as Cetyl or Cetearyl Alcohol. A typical formulation range is approximately 1–10%, depending on product type, desired conditioning level and supplier specifications.
