Lauryl Glucoside
Cleansing and supports rich foam .

Lauryl Glucoside is a nonionic surfactant belonging to the Alkyl Polyglucoside (APG) family. Commercial cosmetic grades are typically manufactured from glucose and fatty alcohols, with plant-derived fatty alcohol feedstocks commonly used. Any specific claim such as coconut-derived, palm-derived or 100% plant-derived should be supported by the supplier’s documentation.

Lauryl Glucoside combines cleansing, foaming and co-surfactant properties and can be used to develop mild surfactant systems for both skin and hair products. Compared with some other glucoside surfactants, commercial Lauryl Glucoside is often relatively viscous or paste-like and may contribute to the body and texture of certain cleansing formulations.

It works especially well with Cocamidopropyl Betaine (CAPB). Combining a nonionic APG with an amphoteric surfactant can provide balanced cleansing and foam characteristics suitable for facial cleansers, shampoos and body washes.

Lauryl Glucoside can also be combined with Decyl Glucoside or Coco Glucoside to develop APG-focused cleansing systems. In shampoo and creamier cleansing formulations, it may be paired with Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI) for a richer foam profile.

For more conditioning-focused cleansers, Lauryl Glucoside pairs well with Panthenol, Glycerin, Aloe Vera and Allantoin. Small quantities of Argan or Jojoba Oil can be incorporated into appropriately designed hair and skin cleansers.

Commercial Lauryl Glucoside can have a relatively alkaline raw-material pH, so the finished formulation should always be measured and adjusted to a suitable pH based on the product type, preservative system and ingredient compatibility.

Best Ingredients Pairing

Lauryl Glucoside + Cocamidopropyl Betaine → Best Overall Pairing

An excellent combination of a nonionic + amphoteric surfactant. Suitable for face washes, shampoos and body washes where balanced cleansing and good foam are desired.

Lauryl Glucoside + Decyl Glucoside → APG Surfactant Blend

Useful for developing glucoside-based cleansers. Decyl Glucoside can complement Lauryl Glucoside’s cleansing and physical characteristics.

Lauryl Glucoside + Coco Glucoside → Multi-APG Cleansing

A useful pairing for plant-origin cleansing concepts when the sourcing claims are supported by supplier documentation.

Lauryl Glucoside + SCI → Creamy Foam & Cleansing

SCI contributes dense, creamy lather, while Lauryl Glucoside provides nonionic cleansing. Particularly useful in shampoo and cream-cleansing systems.

Lauryl Glucoside + Cocamidopropyl Betaine + Glycerin + Panthenol + Allantoin

This gives gentle cleansing + balanced foam + hydration + soothing support.

For an APG-Based Gentle Cleanser:

Lauryl Glucoside + Decyl Glucoside + Coco Glucoside + Cocamidopropyl Betaine + Panthenol

This combines different glucoside surfactants with CAPB to create a flexible multi-surfactant cleansing system.

For a Conditioning Shampoo:

Lauryl Glucoside + Cocamidopropyl Betaine + SCI + Panthenol + Argan Oil

This provides cleansing + creamy lather + conditioning + softer-feeling hair.
